Falling for Fall

The D.C. metro area has been rather chilly lately. For example, today's high temperature is 54 degrees but that is OK with me because I live for this weather! The air is crisp, the trees are beautiful shades of orange, red and yellow and the smell of apple cider & hot chocolate are calling me name constantly. My Mommy loves to hear the sounds of the football fans from the high school stadium close by and Daddy loves to take me on even more outdoor activities. I'm not sure Haddie knows how great it is but, she will soon (she still sleeps a lot).

Yesterday was Halloween and unlike the rest of the kids in my neighborhood, I chose to stay at home and help pass out candy. Honestly, why should I go trick-or-treating when my Mom let me have candy for breakfast earlier that day. Auntie Michelle came over in the morning yesterday too and brought me my very first Starbucks (calm down, it was hot chocolate people not coffee in that cup that you see below). All in all, it's been a great start to fall and while I did not go trick-or-treating, I did carve pumpkins with Daddy the weekend before. There's always next year to go out begging for candy. Seriously, by that time I'll need a break away from Haddie :-).

Emerson

Dad and I on Sunday morning drinking our Starbucks.

"Dad, you're not getting any of mine.... I can't help it that you finished yours already".

"MOM, back in the house until we're finished... I mean it this time!"

"Whew, this is hard work but somebody's got to do it"

"Here Daddy, what shall we do with all these pumpkin guts"

"Really Mommy, I said NO GIRLS allowed" "Now go inside until we're finished"

"Hey Daddy, I can't get the head back on my pumpkin" "Are you sure you carved this right?"

"You stay right there and don't make a peep"

Welcome baby sister!

Well folks, lots of stuff has happened since my last posting that I am just not getting around to updating my blog! Thank you to all my grandparents and fans for being so patient but, I now have a little sister to look after :).

On September 17,2010 @ 6:52 am my Emerson's world as I knew it, has changed (all for the better though). My sister, Hadley Marie, was born and man is she really cool. Nana came from Texas for a couple of weeks to help out and she helped show me the ropes on what to do when caring for her. (Thank you Nana!). Below you will see some snapshots of our first moments together but, don't worry there are lots more to come. So stay tuned for more updates and the announcement of a new blog. Mom and Dad says that I'm really good at sharing and I thought it might be nice to have a blog with both of our adventures.

XO,
Emerson

Here's baby sister taking a snooze. Man does she sleep a lot!

I got to stay home one morning for a holiday and Mommy let me dress myself :)

YUCK! "Mom, I think she pooted!" "Hurry take her back"

I tried to give her part of my cereal bar but she wasn't a fan.

I love my sister! She looks like she was starting to cry so I did what any big brother would do. I kissed her to make it all better just like when Mommy and Daddy kiss my boo boo's.

Yea, she didn't want goldfish crackers either.

She seems bigger than my stuffed animals.... and she wiggles.

"It's ok Haddie, Mommy's hurrying with the food"

"Isn't she cool"

Emerson and the Dandelion

Can we keep him? Please Daddy!

Yesterday after school I overheard Mommy telling Daddy that she had the neighbor friend move a turtle that was hanging out on our sidewalk. Of course Daddy was excited and wanted to know where our neighbor placed the turtle so that we could play with him. Mommy on the other hand claimed that the turtle was too huge too play with and what if it was a snapping turtle .... Mommy swears we're running a petting zoo here in Alexandria,VA (We have bunnies, deer, 5 foot black snakes, a marmot that Daddy named Larry, and now turtles all within our townhouse subdivision so you can see why she thinks this). Needless to say, Mommy exaggerated a little and you'll see why when you look at the pictures below. The turtle was really cool and I even was able to hold him while running with him in my arms. The turtle peed on me a little but that was ok. I mean isn't that what they make soap for, right?

I hope all of you get to experience all the wonderful pets that I have sometime in the near future!

Love,
Emerson
"Daddy, go tell Mommy to get him some food, I think he's hungry"

"Ohhh, his shell is so smooth"

"So, this is just like a football, right Daddy?" "I wonder how far he will go?"

"Here turtle, turtle."

"1, 2, 3.... wait, how many toes does he have?"

Open Wide

Yesterday Mommy and Daddy busted me out of school for my first dentist appointment. It was an experience like none other. Daddy has been preparing me for the past couple of weeks of what to do when I see the Dentist. I've been working really hard on opening my mouth really big and saying "ahh".

First we waited in the waiting room for the Dentist to call us back. Once Dr. Chang came and got me, we all went back into this really cool room. There were lots of shiny objects and possibly the coolest chair I've ever seen. I tried really hard to sit still, contain myself, and open my mouth for Dr. Chang like Daddy and I have practiced. Unfortunately, Dr. Chang came after me with this huge straw that made really loud noises. Daddy and Mommy assured me that it was o.k. but I know better. So what would you do? Well , I ran like the wind and thankfully dodged a bullet. Dr. Chang, Mommy and Daddy all tried to get me back in the chair but I'm no dummy. Fifteen minutes later they all finally gave up on me getting my teeth checked and clean and decided that we'd try this again in another six months (ha ha ha... we'll see about that). Here are a few snapshots of my experience:

"What kind of room is that?"

"What is this thing.... it's so heavy I'm not sure I can lift it"
"Yea, nice try but I'm not buying it"
"That's it ... I'm out!"
"Ohhh, now this chair is nice and you say it can go up and down"
".... all this and arm rests too"
"Just a second, I need to find my spot" "You wouldn't happen to have a pillow would you?"
"Whatcha talking about Dr. Chang?" "No way Jose!"
"Yea, the light is cool and all but you're still not getting to examine my teeth"

Summer Time!

Hello Everyone,

Things have been busy, busy, busy here in Alexandria, VA. At the end of June I successfully finished my first year of preschool and we celebrated with a party at school. We invited all of parents and it was loads of fun. This summer, I moved to Mrs. Lis and Miss. Amanda's class and so far it's been great. We have "Splash" days every Monday and Wednesday, Sign language on Thursdays and Karate on Wednesday inbetween all of our other fun stuff.

Summer is almost half-way thru before the next school year and already I am feeling like it's flying by! Mommy and Daddy have been keeping me busy on the weekends with all sorts of activities. The weekend before the fourth of July we went to the annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival. We've gone the past three years and this year Asia, Mexico and Haiti were the countries featured. There was one tent within the Mexico exhibit that I especially loved... they had live Tejano music (it reminded Mommy of home a little). It was REALLY hot that weekend but God must have been looking out for us because we scored rockstar parking (Thank goodness, Mommy's belly is getting bigger everyday and I don't know if it's me or what but I swear it's slowing her down... shhhh don't tell her that though, I don't want to hurt her feelings). Of course, my favorite part is the carousel that is on the National Mall and chasing the pigeons. (That just never gets old)

We have also made it out to the Pirates Cove water park this year. It was our first time and I loved it! All of the water is no higher than my shoulders and they have really cool slides and stuff. Auntie Michelle came too and Mom made us a picnic. Last weekend, Mommy took me to my very first movie - Toy Story 3. My friend Emily and her Mommy came too and we had lots of fun. I didn't quite make it through the entire movie but I came close and Emily introduced me to my very first taste of what a Slurpee is (boy was that awesome). Mommy was exhausted by the time we got home and I overheard her telling Daddy that it will just take time before we make through an entire show (hmmm... wonder what she meant about that). Although, I don't have photos yet, Daddy has been braving the heat and humidity and taking me out on bike rides along the Potomac, by the National airport and up and around Old Town Alexandria. It's really cool since I just get to sit back, relax, read a book and sip on my drink. Occasionally I have a snack too but that's only if I'm in the mood ya know. This weekend Mommy and I spent hours playing with playdough, coloring and chasing Bob around the house (we had some rain). It later stopped and Daddy took me on another bike ride :-).

So, that's what I've been up to these dog days of summer and I'm sure that I have more adventures in store that I'll share later. How about you? How's your summer going? I hope you are doing well and having as much fun as I am.

Love,
Emerson
