Summertime Fun!

On this past Saturday, Mom & Dad loaded up the car with pasta salad, brownies, cookies and of course me and off we went for a picnic. I was worried at first because it started raining pretty hard but then the sun came out so all was good. I tried my hardest to sneak a taste of the brownies (especially since they were right next to me on the ride over) but Mom had them sealed up like Fort Knox!

The afternoon got off to a good start. First, Dad tried to teach me how to do the cabbage patch dance (photo #1). Then Auntie Sarita (I so have a crush on her :-) cleaned my face (photo #2). Dad tried to give me my first beer (Mom put a kibosh on that... thus why I'm crying in photo #3). Last but not least, I had to include a photo of some of my favorite Aunties - Sarah and Susan! I'm looking forward to this Friday.... more BBQ, more friends, and lots of fun for the 4th. I'll let you know how it goes :-).

Saturday Fun!

Saturday's are our favorite time to go the local farmer's market in old town Alexandria. This week Mom's friend Becky and her daughter Margaret Rose (a.k.a. Maggie or Mags as my Dad says it) came with us to the farmer's market. Dad went hiking in Great Falls so he was happy too. It was so nice out this morning that I couldn't wait to get out of the house. Mom picked up some herbs for her garden. I'm not sure why as we all know that they'll be dead within the week but, we'll keep encouraging her..... she's certainly determined to grow cilantro this year! Afterwards, we headed down to the park along the Potomac river in old town where Maggie and I got to spend some quality time together. Check us out below:

"Hey baby, what's your sign?"

"Seriously, I can't understand a word your saying"

" No, I don't know why she has me locked up?"

"Do you think that you can help bust me out of here?"

The Longest Day of My Life!

The summer solstice, the most daylight that we'll have all year and we spent part of it in Gathersburg, MD - Smokey Glen Farm.

My Daddy had his company picnic this evening. I couldn't wait to get there as I've been dreaming for days of the moon bounce, putt putt golf, horse shoes and BBQ. Of course, Mom was a party pooper and instead of BBQ I had milk and I was only allowed to assist Dad with putt putt..... thank goodness I was there for him..... don't tell him but he could use a little help :-).

The best part was that I got to meet a bunch a cool people that my Dad hangs out with at work. There's Steve (they call him Hollywood.... check out the photo below and you'll know why) with his daughter named Shayana (I believe that's how you spell her name). Shayana is five months older than me which is OK by me... I've always wanted to date an older woman. She has gorgeous hair and eyes and has a great smile too! I'm thinking she dug me too but, with my cold I didn't want to get too close to her. Then there's Jeff, he's the guy in the blue shirt that pretty much takes care of all of the folks in my Dad's office. He's really nice and plays horse shoes really well. Last but not least, my Daddy's buddy Alvaro is pictured below in the black shirt. Alvaro always seems really happy because he smiles a lot..... I bet it's because he got to eat the BBQ instead of milk like me!

We had a great time at the company picnic and I'm looking forward to next year. Maybe then I can have some BBQ or at the very least sneak some when Mom's not looking :-).

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Today was a great day! Mom and I made Dad breakfast in bed, Dad opened presents and off to church we went. Dad wore the present that I picked out for him to church (guitar cuff links). I chose this gift mainly because I think my Daddy Rocks! After church, Dad went on a much deserved bike ride while I caught up on my sleep. Upon awaking from my nap, Dad and I hung out for a little while until bath/bed time. Tonight's bedtime reading selection was really cool.... I got to learn about all sorts of animals like apes, gorillas, alligators and so on. All in all, I think my Dad had a good first Father's day and I'm so happy that he did!

Here below is a photo of Dad and I trying to figure out the electronic brag book (to load pictures of me of course) that Mom and I picked out for him. Pay no attention to my spooky eyes. Mom's a little slow at figuring out how to take pictures of me but don't tell her that.... I wouldn't want to hurt her feelings :-).

Just Like My Daddy!

When I grow up, I want to be just like my Daddy! My Daddy is smart, funny, entertaining, caring, cute and best of all .... he gives great hugs. Today my Mom went out with her friends to Georgetown for lunch and a movie while Dad and I hung out. It was raining for most of the day so I helped Dad with the laundry and vacuuming (boy were there a lot of clothes). Oh yeah and my Dad must be really strong because, I got to hang out in my favorite carrier (see photo below) during all of our chores. I just can't wait until I get big enough to where I can face forward.... right now there's not much of a view facing Daddy's chest :-).

Later this evening, Mom made us pose for the picture below. I'm finding out that Mom likes to play dress up (I think she needs to get another hobby). It's o.k. though because since I want to be like Dad when I grow up, I might as well look like him too. I only wish Mom would have put us in shirts that didn't match.... I have a feeling that this picture will haunt me in future ... hopefully it won't hurt my political career! Don't you think that Emerson Maxwell Barr is great name for a President or at the very least a Senator???

Well that's all for today. I need to get my rest as tomorrow will be a big day given that it's Father's Day and all. I hope that you have enjoyed hearing about my Dad as much as I have enjoyed telling you about him. He's the BESTEST Daddy in the whole wide world! I plan to not only celebrate him tomorrow but everyday.

Emerson

On My Own

For weeks now, Mom and Dad had been warning me that if I didn't shape up, they were shipping me off.... I thought they were bluffing... it turns out, they weren't!

Today was my first day of day care. Below are some photos of Surisa (my daycare provider) and me when I first arrived. Surisa also has an assistant but she had not arrived yet... it was 7:30 am for crying out loud. Anyways, Surisa seemed friendly but whose to know at first glance, right? Dad and Mom hung out with me for a while but then before I could say " boo " they were gone. So, I saddled up to the luxury baby swing and settled in.

Don't you worry though, I am in good hands. It turns out that this Surisa lady is pretty cool. Not only do I get to hang out with six other kids (some of which are kind of funny) but, I also get not one but two baby massages a day! HOORAY for me! Surisa showed Mom how to give me the massage today when she picked me up..... Surisa said it helps with my digestion or something like that. I don't care what it helps with, it's feels great on my little peds :-) OH yeah, I almost forgot..... Surisa gave me a manicure and pedicure..... it turns out that Tuesdays are mani & pedi day. I can't wait until next Tuesday! I think I overheard Mommy saying that she wished that she got a mani & pedi every Tuesday. Mom's most excited about the Thai lessons that I am going to get once I get a little bigger and can talk. It'll be great too.... I can talk about my parents in Thai and they won't have a clue of what I'm saying.... think of all the trouble I can get into.

So that's it. I'm twelve weeks today and already on my own (during the day time that is :-).

My Daddy The Snake Whisperer!

Hey Everybody ~

Look closely below... that's right, Daddy caught a snapshot of this snake on our deck a few days ago. Sorry it's a little cloudy but it's been so humid here lately that it fogged up the camera. Mommy was so scared that she asked that Daddy get rid of the snake. Daddy was reluctant (because he said it was harmless) but to make Mommy happy, he headed out with a shovel. WELL... the next thing you know, Daddy came back into the house telling us that the snake got scared ... so scared that he hid into the exposed pipes that go into our neighbors house (thank goodness for us our pipes aren't exposed!).

So, now skip ahead a few days later (that would be today) and the snake came back! A Roofer guy that was working on a house a couple doors down knocked on our door around noon only to say that Mr. Black Snake was back. OH NO! So my Daddy went out with Mr. Roofer to try and capture the snake. SUCCESS! We called animal control but they wouldn't pick him up unless he was in the house or injured. So, my Daddy loaded him up in the car and off they went to the woods. Check out the photo below of Mr. Black Snake heading out to his new home.

Now all is well in the neighborhood and everyone is happy :-). My Mommy is not afraid anymore in fact she was singing "ding dong the snake is gone", I am able to go outside now if I want, and best of all.... My Daddy remains my hero!

Race Day - continued

Oh yeah, I almost forgot..... did you know that when you finish the Race for the Cure they hand out all sorts of goodies with a scarf being one of them. Check me out below in this year's scarf. I tried to eat it but didn't taste all that good so, the best that I can hope for now is to use it as a summer blanket.

Here's a final shot of me on the way home from the race...... "Seriously Mom, enough with the camera!"

Race Day!

Today started off good.... I had a good nights rest, plenty for breakfast, and a really cool shirt that my Auntie Anne sent to me from Hawaii. We left the house at about 6:30 am and picked up Auntie Michelle and Auntie Susan. All was good until we hit the metro....... it was really muggy and boy there were lots of people but not too bad as we only had to wait for only two trains.

Today was also my first metro ride and I loved it! Most especially, I loved all the women that surrounded me ..... keeping me safe and all..... I think one chic was trying to hit on me (doesn't she know I prefer blondes... I mean really). A funny thing happened just before our stop.... Auntie Michelle, Auntie Susan and Mommy thought that they had smelled a present coming from my diaper..... little did they know it was only gas...lol :-) (ha ha... fooled you all.... is what I thought to myself). Mom checked and changed my diaper anyway and here I am below all refreshed and ready to start the race!

Once we arrived to the National Mall for the race, Daddy and Auntie Michelle took off for the runners start while Auntie Susan, Mommy and myself joined up with the walkers. Mommy and Auntie Susan wanted to walk faster but there were too many people.... I think roughly 50,000 or so but we still made the race in about an hour.

Afterwards, everyone met up in a nice shady spot to enjoy some snacks that Mom packed (apples, goldfish, TLC bars, pop tarts.... ). I can't wait to eat grown up food, this baby milk is getting old and I'd like more of a variety for my mature pallet.

Going home on the metro was a lot easier except for a brief moment when I started to get hungry. Mommy scrambled to find my pacifier but with all the junk she packed she had no luck. So, Mommy ended up making up a quick bottle for me to eat to shut me up..... needless to say it worked and Daddy was not too happy that Mommy had broken the rule of no eating on the metro (what are they going arrest a baby ?????.... well there was that one kid a few summers back that got arrested for eating french fries on the metro so, maybe).

Overall, today was a good day! I can't wait until next year's race.... maybe I can run it ...OK, let's be real.... Mommy will run it while pushing me in the stroller (she such a sucker for me already :-).

Emerson

Hello from Emerson

Hello!

Welcome to my blog :-) On March 18,2008 at 10:10 am, I arrived into this world. Since then, I've been hanging out with my Mom (she's kind of crazy but I love her anyway), my Dad (he's pretty funny and cool too) and Bob our cat (he runs out of the room every time I cry... not too sure what is up with that). Anyways, the photo above was taken just before we were heading out for a lunch date. I'm finding that Mom likes to go out to lunch with her friends a lot! That will soon end though.... she's heading back to work this coming Tuesday. I'm also starting daycare that day too..... I think my Mom will be a wreck! I'll be sure to give her lots of hugs that day.... she'll need it.

This weekend we have a packed schedule of activities. Tomorrow starts off at 6:30 am when we leave to walk and run the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Apparently my parents participate in this race every year since they moved here in 2003. Last year both of my parents ran the race but this year only my Dad will run it and my Mom and I will walk it. I'll be sure to share photos of that event later. On Sunday, I have my first photo shoot.... watch out Madonna... "Come on Vogue" :-). Mom has gone crazy again and set a photo shoot up for my 3 month, 6 month, 9 month and 12 month birthdays. Geez, I can't seem to get away from the camera. O' well, if it makes her happy then I'll do it.

Well that's it for now. I'd better run before my parents catch me on the computer. They haven't figured out that I can type and so let's keep this blog between you and me :-).

Love,
Emerson

P.S. I love to receive postings so feel free to type away!
