Snow + Snow Angels = Lots of Fun!

On Sunday, we all went outside for round two of fun in the snow. While Daddy finished digging out Mommy and Daddy's cars, Mommy and I made snow angels. Daddy later joined us for snowball fights and most importantly, eating snow! I know what you are thinking... don't worry, we didn't eat any of the yellow stuff :-).

Tomorrow, I'm hoping I'll get to play outside some more. The Federal government and the schools are closed so it's an official SNOW DAY! Hooray!

Love,
Emerson

"Daddy is so cool, here we are eating snow together"

"No Daddy, that bite is all yours"

"My first snow angel... I'm sure I'll get more practice tomorrow"

"Help, I've falling and I can't get up"

"I'm king of the hill"

A TREACHEROUS Weekend!

A blizzard-like storm hit the Washington, D.C. area shutting down all stores, public facilities and leaving some folks without power. As of 8 pm tonight, Daddy measured 22 1/2 inches of snow and counting! We had plans to go to D.C.'s Zoo Lights but given the circumstances, that obviously did not happen. However, today has been a great day. Mommy bought me a new snow suit (thank you Daddy for having the fore thought to suggest she get one) for playing in the snow. At first, I did not like the snow but I soon realized that it would prove to be lots of fun. Mommy also made a Ham, homemade toffee and we hung out in our basement by the fire for the rest of the day. All in all, it was a very good day. Check out some snap shots below along with the a couple of videos of our adventures today.

Wherever you are tonight, stay warm!

Love,
Emerson

"Bob's favorite part of winter is our basement fire place"

"SNOW FIGHT!"

"Really Mom, you think now is a good idea for a snap shot?"

"Make it stop!"

"And Dad wants to know if we're getting mail today?" " He's new!"

"Check me out in my new snow bib." "Grandma Linda and PaPaw, recognize those boots :-)"

"Who needs a snow plow when Dad does a great job!"

Christmas Tree Day 2009

"Hey Dad, need any help?"

"Let me at em!"
"Uncle James looks lost"

Now, check out the video to see how a little guy, like myself, could end up with hives! Yes, apparently eating snow (along with pine needles and most likely tree sap) off Christmas trees caused a severe case of hives. My parents have to be new.... otherwise, what's their excuse for letting me eat pine needles? I still love them anyway :-).

A Sunday Drive

At the beginning of each Fall season, Daddy likes to take a drive through Skyline drive (which is approximately 1 1/2 hours from our house). Last year was beautiful but this year the leaves all changed too quickly and there was not much to look at :-(. Click below to see my thoughts on this years outing.

A Day at the Park

Last Sunday we spent a good part of the day at Burke Lake Park. There were lots of things to play with and explore. I found lots of good rocks and leaves and gave my parents a few mini heart attacks along the way :-).

I hope the weather is great where you are at!

LAP Halloween Parade

Is Safeway the new pumpkin patch?

Last Sunday, Mommy and Aunt Michelle took me to Butler's Orchard in Germantown,MD only to stay a total of 10 minutes and then back in the car we went. You see, Mommy and Aunt Michelle weren't prepared for the thousands of folks that decided to come out to Butler's Orchard on that day. We had intended on going to the festival but, by the time we made it to the festival we only had 1 hour left! So, Mommy thought perhaps we would just pick out a pumpkin and be on our way. HA! Mommy soon realized that was not going to happen either with the lines of people all with the same idea. Therefore, Mommy did what any sane parent would do in the same situation and headed to the Safeway to pick out a pumpkin of my very own.

Fast forward to this afternoon where Mommy and I carved my very first pumpkin..... just in time for the trick-or-treaters :-). It was lots of fun and Mommy even let me help pick out the pumpkin seeds (Daddy likes to bake them for a treat later).

Love,
Emerson

"Mom, but why can't we get a pumpkin here?"

"Woo Hoo.... I see lots of stuff to play with"

"Mom, is it ok to eat this sticker?"

"Here, let me show you ladies how it's done!"

"Faster, push me faster"

"It's a delicate procedure but I think I got it covered"

"..... and you take both hands and pull like crazy"

"I need to make sure that she looks pretty for tomorrow's night of fun"

"Yeah, that looks about right"

E is not just for Emerson

Yesterday, Mom and Dad had their first parent/teacher conference and I did great! I was worried there for awhile especially given the fact that I've been caught escaping the play yard, playing in the mud and dirt and not sleeping when I'm suppose to. It was touch and go until my parents arrived back home from their meeting but, all was good!

Here are some souvenirs from their meeting. Mommy swears that the comment " Emerson is a funny little boy." "He has so much energy!", is their polite way of saying that I'm all over the place. Ha! I give my parents a run for their money each and everyday so why should my teachers be any different :-).

Enjoy!

Emerson

School Daze!

In September our school had picture day. Yesterday, when Mommy picked me up she was greeted with a packet of pictures from Ms. Shoba. Mommy was so excited that she couldn't wait to get home and show Daddy. I'm not sure what all the fuss was about... I'm so use to the camera by now that it was just another days work.

Meeting Miss Lottie

A couple of weekends ago, we took a trip to visit the Mahan clan in South Carolina. Aunt Amanda and Uncle Daren were blessed with a little girl last winter - Charlotte but everyone calls her Lottie. Aunt Sarita came down from Pittsburgh and made the drive with us too. My Mom kept apologizing for my loud outbursts in the car but, Aunt Sarita knew how to keep me happy and that was to keep the DVD movies going.

During our visit, I got to lots of cool stuff some of which drove my parents crazy! I tested out the wine glass rack (at least over 50 times it seemed), moved some gates around, made a run for Uncle Daren's jam room, climbed up and down lots of stairs, and had a great day in the local neighborhood park. Ohhh and I almost forgot the most important part - we ate lots of great food. In the short time that we had visiting, I worked hard to teach Lottie the ropes. Even though, Lottie is roughly a year behind me in age, I could see it in her eyes that she was catching on to all my tricks. Lottie is just waiting for the right time to spring these secret tricks on her parents and I can't wait to hear about it when she does :-) Go Lottie!

Anyways, we had a great time and wish that we had more time to visit but the parents and Aunt Sarita had to get back to work. Check out some snapshots from our fun times below.

Emerson

"Here's the adorable Miss Lottie"

"So Aunt Sarita, over here is where I think would be a great spot for your new home"

"Ha ha, Mommy catch me if you can!"

"Awwww..... so peaceful"

"Look, everyone brought their own sippy cups :-)"

"Cheers"

"Please someone save me from this bucket"

"Now Aunt Sarita, if you could just swing me around in circles, it would be like a Disney ride"

"Yo Lottie, what's up"
"Uh Oh, don't tell Mommy that I broke Aunt Amanda's pumpkin"

"That's all folks!"

Weekend Fun!

This weekend marked our first official weekend of fall weather. Although, Sunday was not really fall like weather, Mommy dressed me in hopes that it was just a fluke in the Weatherman's forecast.

On Saturday, it rained all day so after we ran a few errands, Mommy made a big pot of chili and some brownies too. You can see below that I was a lucky little guy and helped Mommy make the brownies. I even got to lick the beaters once Mommy finished pouring the mix into the baking dish. Of course I'm not a clean eater so Mommy had to change me. Later that day, Daddy and I hung out for a little while in the basement where I discovered Bob's cat toys. For the record, I really like the balls with the bells in them.

Today, we went to church and you could tell it was a good service... lots of singing, peace greeting, etc... I clapped a lot... it was tons of fun. Daddy and I watched the Redskins game and played in my ball pit. I'm learning to clean up my toys at school so today I showed Daddy how it's done. Right before bath time, Mommy, Daddy and I played catch with the ball on the stairway .. there's video footage of that coming up soon.

So, here's wishing Mommy gets her sweater weather and Daddy gets to watch more football games. Everyone have a great week and be good!

Love,
Emerson
"What, like you think it's easy to get the chocolate off of these beaters?"

"Let's see who eats dinner now!"

"Oh, look at all the cool toys I found.... Bob won't mind if I borrow them"

"O.K., I'm ready to catch the next ball, Dad"

"Ah Ha! I caught one!"

My First Day of Preschool - Little Acorn Patch

Tomorrow starts my second week at my new school - The Little Acorn Patch - and I'm starting to look forward to it. My first day of at my new school was this past Tuesday and boy was there lots to see and do. Mommy and Daddy both took me on my first day and I showed them my new classroom, cubby and where I put my backpack and coat.

I have three teachers and their names are Ms. Kristin, Ms. Mandy and Ms. Julia. I really like all of them but, Ms. Mandy tells my parents that I crack them up.... I guess I'm funny or something. Oh and Ms. Kristin told my parents that I'm an escape artist.... can I help it if I'm one of the few kids in the class that knows how to open doors? Anyways, we have lots of fun playing, dancing and listening to music, coloring, story time and one day we even made home-made apple sauce! I'm also making lots of friends and Maysa (one of the girls in my class) seems to follow me everywhere.... I sure hope she doesn't have cooties!

On the down side, I think I might be allergic to something in the classroom or the new carpet that my school just got. On Thursday, Ms. Mandy noticed that I couldn't stop scratching my neck. On Friday, I had hives all over my body so much so that the Director (Ms. Andrea) thought I could have the chicken pox. Mommy and Daddy took me to see Dr. Sideridis on Friday and he confirmed it was just a bad case of the hives. Now the trick becomes what is it that is making me allergic. No worries though, the Dr. Sideridis says that sometimes you never find out and it can go away on its own.

All is well and I'm off to get some rest since I know that there will be lots for me to do at school tomorrow.

Love,
Emerson

Check out my cubby

..... and here's my coat/backpack holder

"See.... it says my name and everything"

"Check it out, I'm at the top star on the classroom door"

Nana & Pappy Come to D.C.

Nana Banana and Pappy came to see me this past week! Last Saturday, we met Nana and Pappy at the airport gate from their trip from Houston. Everyone seemed worried that I wouldn't recognize them but, you can't fool me, I knew exactly who they were as soon as they walked out of the airport terminal.

We had so much fun while they were here. I showed Nana and Pappy around the zoo one day, took them to the park to play on the swings and slide, strolled around old town Alexandria, visited with the Mc Eldowney's one evening (we played lots of hide-n-go-seek that night), and even had a night to myself with Nana and Pappy while Mommy and Daddy went out on a date. Nana and Pappy left this past Saturday and Nana cried a little as she was getting out of the car to go inside the airport. I didn't tell her this, but I wish that I could have made her tears go away. That's O.K. though, there's always our next visit! Here are some snapshots of our fun. There is also a photo that Nana took of me at the doctors office. I had an ear infection that day but the good news is that I'm all better now and ready for my new school (which I start tomorrow btw).

Well, I'd better get some sleep for a well rested day tomorrow. Mommy and Daddy are both taking me to meet my new teacher, Ms. Kristen. More to come on that.

Love,
Emerson
"Pappy, what no milk to go with my cookies?"

"Faster Nana, FASTER"

"Hey Nana, why are you stopping?"

"Catch me Nana"

Here we are waiting for the doctor to come check me out.

"Come on Pappy, it's this way"

"Give me some skin, Pappy"
