"KICKIN IT"

Today my Daddy is coming home and I can't wait to give him a big kiss and hug! I won't get to see him until Saturday though since he won't be home until after my bedtime. That's OK though, it just means that I will be rested and ready for some guy time on Saturday. I wore my "kickin it" shirt in honor of our guys weekend.... we'll be "kickin it" old school style in the basement since the weather man is calling for rain tomorrow.

This morning started off OK with the exception of feeling a little under the weather. Mom checked my temperature and it was low grade and since I have been drooling a lot, she figured it was just me teething. Pasai called Mom around 11 am today to come and pick me up and Mom took me to the doctors. It turns out that I have some sort of virus. So Mom gave me some Tylenol and extra TLC. I went to bed a little earlier than usual but I needed it since I didn't get enough zzz's last night. I was glad too, I need to be rested for playtime with Dad tomorrow!

Well that's all folks! Have a great weekend :-)

Crawling, crawling, crawling......

The end of this week marks my first attempt at crawling. Mom and Dad are so excited that they even bought toys for me to chase (So what am I Bob the cat now ...lol:-). Bob has come around more and more often (even when I cry); my parents theory is that he's after my new toys. I don't mind sharing, kitties needs play time too ya know.

My favorite toy so far is what they call a "move and crawl" ball. My parents like it because supposedly, it stimulates my gross motor development, teaches me my numbers, shapes and animals, and has fun sounds. I like it because it's shiny, moves around a lot and has cool colors and lights. I also got a really cool drum that sounds out the alphabet, sings cool songs, lets me beat on it and all in either Spanish or English!

So, here I am below chasing after one of my new building blocks. I have to get it before Bob gets to it.... it's soft and squeaks like Bob's cat toys.

"Hey, how YOU doing..."

"..... and 1, 2, 3, ..... come on everyone, push up time!"

"Still going..... and 20, 21, 22......... don't quit on me now people... we're almost done with our workout!"

"Almost got it..... must get building block before Bob gets here...."

Ring, ring goes the school bell!

Today was the first day of school for the children of Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia. As my Mom drove away from our subdivision, I starred out the window at the many school children, dressed in there brand new school clothes, waiting for that glorious yellow school bus. I can't wait for the day when I get to pick out a really cool backpack, lunch box and wait with the big kids for the bus.

Mom says that it was be a while and that I should enjoy being a baby while I can. I think she's right.... I mean this is the only time when I can get away with someone else feeding me, changing my diaper and carrying me around.....Well, maybe if I ever have to go into a nursing home but that's millions of years away from now!

OH NO, they caught me!

Saturday morning took awhile for Mom to make my breakfast so I decided to have an appetizer instead. Just so you know, yellow bears taste better than the red and blue bears. This bouncy seat was a gift from my Grams and I'm sure glad that she ordered the bears to go with it!

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday........

Sunday was the first day that we've been to church in awhile. Dad and Mom have both been traveling the past couple of weekends .

Here's a photo that Mom caught right before we headed out for the Sunday service. I'm really glad that Mom chose the frog shirt for me to wear today..... it sure was a conversation piece in church today and even helped me meet a new friend.

Alaskan Care Package

Hi Everyone, it's been awhile since my last post. I'm sorry about that as it's been a little crazy at the Barr household. Mom and Dad have been busy with with work, Mom was in NYC last weekend, Dad's heading to Idaho this weekend and I've been working hard trying to crawl, talking and eating lots of fruits and vegetables! Daddy told Mommy the other day that if I don't stop eating so much, we may have to take out a second mortgage :-) What's a mortgage by the way?

Today I arrived home to a care package from my Nana Banana. Nana Banana and Pappy just got back from an Alaskan cruise this past week and picked me up this really cool book on the bears in Alaska. Mommy told me all about their trip, where to find Alaska on the globe and how Alaska is part of the non-contiguous United States. I can't wait to read it and learn more! Oh who am I kidding, Daddy or Mommy will read it and I just sit back and listen. One day I'll be able to read it though.

Well, gotta run.... it's banana and apple time :-)

One Lazy Weekend!

On Friday, Mom picked me up from daycare only to learn that I had a possible ear infection. Pasai told Mommy that it was hard to say since my appetite was good, I had no fever, I wasn't fussy or pulling at my ear. Rather be safe than sorry (I think that's my Mom's motto lately:-) she immediately called the pediatrician and spoke with the advice nurse (Julie was her name I think). Julie told Mommy to see if I got better overnight and if not to call first thing Saturday. Well folks, I guess my number was up because at 7:59 am (the office opens at 8:00 am) Mommy was calling the Pediatrician's office.

At 9:30 am we arrived at the pediatrician to a friendly staff waiting to check me out. I won most of them over with my smile and the steady gaze I gave into each of their eyes. First things first, I have to get weighed. Drum roll please................................ 16 lbs 9 oz is what my current weight is. I've come a long way baby! Soon afterwards the Nurse Practitioner came in (Lisa is her name - she's blonde with blue eyes - a real hottie). Lisa checked my lungs, asked Mommy several questions and then checked my ears. Sure enough, I had an ear infection. Mommy was not to thrilled especially since she realized that meant antibiotics as such a young age. I think Mommy has too much education on the effects of antibiotics but ultimately she knows that the amoxicillin is what it will take for me to get better.

Saturday was low key for our family. The weather has been beautiful here - high of 90 with low humidity. Daddy took a bike ride and then Aunt Anne & Uncle Frank came to visit for a little while. Mommy wanted to get out but had a cold so she and I hung out together, which was cool.

Sunday was my favorite day of the weekend by far. Daddy and I read the paper together (this is becoming one of my favorite traditions), Daddy and I watched some war series on HBO (Mommy didn't seem to happy about that), Daddy got to talk to Grams (I can't wait to show her some of my new clothes - they're great for holding frogs), Mommy took care of some work projects and I got lots of naps.

All in all, this weekend was a good one! Now if my Nana would just get back from Alaska and call me. My Mommy said that she's due home today after being gone for 10 days and she's really missing her too. Nana if you are reading this, please call or else Mommy might stalk you :-).

Have a great week everyone!

Love,
Emerson

Daddy and I after reading the paper, we're on to the Newsweek magazine.

Daddy's political views put me to sleep!

We both had to change clothes... I got a little sick. Daddy and I hung out in the basement and I soon fell asleep with Mr. Winks.
